Project summary
Project activity envisages greenhouse gases emission reductions into the atmosphere through the implementation of special measures that are directed to the reduction of energy resources expenses on production of the product unit. Besides this, the project will assist in improvement of environment situation at the enterprise. JSC “Zaporizhstal” is the enterprise with the full metallurgical cycle, which produces hot rolled coils and cold rolled coils and also tinplate. Zaporizhstal is the producer of agglomerate, pig iron, steel and rolled metal. JSC «Zaporizhstal» ensures contractual supplies of high quality goods, nearly 70% of which is exported.
Technical aspects of the project
Project activity includes:
- improvement of pig iron production process;
- improvement of sintering process;
- improvement of secondary energy resources production process.
Using of JI mechanism in accordance with Kyoto Protocol to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change allowed from 2003 to begin the realization of complex of measures on blast furnaces, sintering machines and auxiliary equipment of sintering production modernization with the aim to achieve the reduction of energy resources expenses and materials per unit of product and, in such way, to reduce anthropogenic emissions of carbonic acid gas.

- reduction of specific volumes of consumption of coke, natural gas and other energy resources;
- reduction of specific volumes of consumption of raw materials etc.
